Introduction

Chan Chi-Yan is an Associate at Collective Studio and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where she also served as a tutor for the summer Architecture Explorer Programme 2019.


Chi-Yan joined Collective Studio in 2019, helping to lead the firm’s architecture projects. Between 2008 and 2018, she worked at Swiss firm Herzog & de Meuron – starting in Basel and then relocating to Hong Kong in 2011, where she helped to lead the team as Project Manager for the design and construction of the historic and award-winning Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts in Hong Kong. Between 2017 and 2018, she was also Resident Site Architect for the construction of the M+ Museum in Hong Kong. Prior to Herzog & de Meuron, Chi-Yan worked in Shanghai, Beijing, and New York City.


Chi-Yan received her Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design in 2008 and her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Princeton University in 2003.
