The School of Architecture at CUHK participates in the 2nd International Architecture and Urbanism Biennale in Seoul, with the work “CONDITION / REAL VILLAGES: Rethinking China’s Countryside” selected for the Global Studios Exhibition that features projects from architecture schools around the world.
The installation showcases various projects carried out by or in association with Prof. Peter Ferretto’s Condition_Lab, including the Gaobu Book House, Dong minority village workshops, as well as design studio and thesis projects. All these built projects and design proposals aim to challenge conventional preservation paradigms and make abandoned Chinese villages operational again, while also examining the role of rural cultural heritage in an ever-expanding urban territory.
