The 2017 Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (UABB) features three architectural and urban design projects by our School of Architecture.

In UABB Hong Kong, Profs. Kristof Crolla and Adam Fingrut exhibit the Cable-Driven Parallel Robot (CDPR), a research project in collaboration with Prof. Darwin Lau at the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering and T Stone Robotics Institute. By using computational design and a cable-driven system, CDPR seeks to expand the possibilities of large-scale architectural construction, reducing the issue of site size while maintaining a high level of accuracy, efficiency and design flexibility.

Prof. Hendrik Tieben and PhD student Chen Yongming present The Contesting Landscape in UABB Shenzhen, investigating the spatial negotiation processes of the informal rooftop settlements and urban fishing villages in Xiamen. Together with Prof. Casey Wang, Tieben and Chen also exhibit the Magic Carpet To Kwa Wan installation, exploring how to create inclusive public space through design education and community placemaking.
