The exhibition features the workshop outcomes by 14 postgraduate architecture students from CUHK and Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), exploring ice and snow as building materials that offer unique architectural possibilities in the extremely cold climate in Northeast China.

In December 2019, a group of MArch and PhD students from CUHK visited Harbin for a one-week joint design workshop with HIT architecture students. Under the guidance of Prof. Luo Peng of HIT and our Prof. Zhu Jingxiang, the workshop used iterative methods to conduct discovery- and application-oriented architectural experiments, with a focus on local construction with ice and snow.
