The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Undergraduate Leaders’ Programme (ULP) was hosted by CUHK this year, with a theme “Leadership for Sustainable Cities Development”. ULP 2023 brought together undergraduate students from APRU member universities and empowered them to become changemakers in pursuit of building sustainable, safe, resilient, and inclusive cities in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The programme encompassed a wide array of sub-themes, including environmental, social and governance; waste and resource management; carbon neutrality and energy; green transport; as well as smart, green and resilient communities.
Students learnt to apply design thinking principles to develop innovative and human-centred solutions to complex issues of sustainability using case studies from Hong Kong and around the world. Our Prof. Hendrik Tieben was one of the academic leads at CUHK.
Academic Leads at CUHK:
- Prof. Hendrik Tieben, Director, School of Architecture
- Prof. Mee Kam Ng, Programme Director, Urban Studies Programme
- Dr. Elsie Tsui, Project Director, Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge
