This thesis investigates the building potential of small-size, monohedral, irregular hexagonal tilling as standardised geometrical module for tiny dwelling units. Although the same irregular hexagon is tiled, they become unpredictable and organic. Infinite types of spatially-rich small rooms and spaces can be formed according to how the modules are arranged. The module also allows for flexible building arrangements which can be adapted to different sites; in urban environments or on a slope. As a testing field, a student hostel for United College, CUHK, is designed – which provides the University an additional solution in addressing hostel development difficulties.
