Lecture Series Online 01

Date 17.1.2024 - 27.3.2024

Time HKT 6:30

Location G/F Atrium, LSK Architecture Building, CUHK

The architectural memory of Hong Kong is better preserved in video games than in museums. Over a hundred games feature the city, sometimes in meticulously produced digital models. What does it mean when, in order to remember the city, we find ourselves needing to play it? Meanwhile, in Shenzhen, city scale projects are being designed entirely with AI. Welcome to this semester's public lecture series Digital Turns: Tools, Weapons, Traps in which we will investigate the latest wave of digitisation to engulf the profession.

After our last successful series on exhibiting architecture, we have prepared an even denser program, with two presenters for each session. The short, lively lectures will present varied perspectives on the contemporary technological tumult. Each event will begin at 6:30pm on a Wednesday, and will end before 8pm.

Speakers include:

🔺 Peter Nelson (Baptist University, HK) & Sunny Cheung (m+ museum, HK) - 17 Jan 2024
🔺 Wanyu He (XKool Technology, Shenzhen) & Tobias Klein (CityU, HK) - 13 Mar 2024
🔺 Dave Pigram (supermanoeuvre) & Bianca Tse (Walled City HK)- 27 Mar 2024

The lecture will be conducted in English. All non-CUHK participants are required to register.
