The School of Architecture is holding a 2-day Summer Workshop on 15-16 June 2023 for applicants who are seeking admission to our PhD programme through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Summer Workshop for PhD in Architecture

In addition to learning about us through our research cluster introduction, school tour, alumni and student sharing, workshop participants will have the opportunities to meet professors and attend coaching sessions on proposal writing and interviews. We will also arrange city tour to introduce participants to Hong Kong’s distinctive architectural features such as public housing estates or heritage sites.


This Summer Workshop is organised for potential applicants in the 2024-2025 intake. Selection will be based on quality and potential of the proposed PhD research. Participants would have to submit a research abstract, transcript, CV or recommendation letter from their referees, preferably professors who have taught them. Participants will be offered free accommodation, meals and travel allowance.

Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme, established by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) in 2009, aims at attracting the best and brightest students from all over the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong.


The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of HK$325,200 (rate as of 2022-23) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,600 (rate as of 2022-23) per year for each awardee for a period up to three years. Selected candidates should display outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.
