CUHK architecture student Ethan Chiang (BSSc Year 4) wins the Best Overall Prize in the Student Category for Architecture at the A&D Trophy Awards 2017, for his design studio project “Endless Bounds”.
The proposed design for a rowing centre in Batu Dam, Kuala Lumpur, is a conceptual juxtaposition of two contrasting structures – an earthbound boathouse extending the existing sloped landscape and a semi-shaded training centre weightlessly floating above, offering different spatial experiences to the user. It also takes tropical climate into consideration to develop a sustainable design that maximises natural ventilation by responding to the prevailing winds on site.
The A&D Trophy Awards were established in 2004 to celebrate excellence in architecture, interior design and product design across Asia-Pacific and beyond.
