CUHK architecture alumnus Gary Ng (BSSc 2006, MArch 2009) and Adjunct Assistant Professor Paul Tse have received this year’s DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award – Environmental Design. Gary is a senior architect at Nan Fung Development, where he was responsible for award-winning revitalisation project The Mills, whereas Paul co-founded New Office Works, which design-build project “Growing Up” is the winner of the first Hong Kong Young Architects and Designers Competition, organised by the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority in 2017.

The “Growing Up” temporary pavilion, as well as the Gaobu Book House, designed and built by Prof Peter Ferretto and his Condition_Lab in a Hunan rural village, have also received Silver and Bronze Awards, respectively, at this year’s DFA Design for Asia Awards.

Organised by the Hong Kong Design Centre, the annual DFA Design for Asia Awards celebrates design excellence and acknowledges outstanding designs with Asian perspectives, whereas the DFA Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award aims to nurture up-and-coming local designers through sponsoring the awardees to study or work overseas.
