AR House Awards

The “Home Modification for Low-Income Families” Project, realised by Prof. Maggie Ma and her team at Domat Architects has been awarded the winner of this year.

Domat's modular furniture project for subdivided units in Hong Kong emerged as the winner of the AR House 2023 award. The project tackles the living challenges faced by low-income families in small apartments. Judges praised Domat's noble and necessary approach, highlighting its clever use of materials and small yet impactful interventions. The project was commended for its contemporary extension of the Existenzminimum, addressing the need for functional spaces within limited resources. The judges recognized the project's ability to temporarily alleviate social pain and its positive impact on well-being. Domat's innovative and impactful approach to addressing housing issues made it a deserving winner.
