CUHK architecture student Gloria Ha (MArch 2) and recent graduate Ruth Lun (MArch 2017) have won the Disney ImagiNations Hong Kong Design Competition 2017 for their project “Daydreamers”, which conceptualises a giant mobile robot that would escort guests to different destinations around the world, featuring the Disney character Oswald.

This year, more than 300 university students from Hong Kong and mainland China submitted their ideas to the Competition to propose imaginative Disney projects. The judges praised “Daydreamers” for its highly creative concept and various surprising elements, along with the winning team’s excellent presentation and design model.

As part of their prize, Gloria and Ruth are invited to visit Walt Disney Imagineering’s headquarters in Glendale, California. Afterwards, they will take an internship at Hong Kong Disneyland to gain more exposure in the creative field.

The Disney ImagiNations Competition was launched in the US in 1992, and Hong Kong became the first city to host the Competition outside the US in 2011. Current MArch 2 students Diane Lam and Winnie Lam won the 2014 Competition with their design proposal “Dragon Adventureland”.
