Prof. Zhu Jingxiang of The Chinese University of Hong Kong won two awards at the 4th China Architecture Media Awards, for his projects Nanji Wetland Visitor Centre, Checkered Playroom (prototype and variation series) and Grameen China Lukou Centre. Among the 12 finalists nominated for four award categories (i.e., Practical Achievement Award, Youth Explorer Award, Technique Exploration Award and Community Exploration Award), Prof. Zhu was the only nominee for two categories. He eventually won the Technique Exploration Award and Youth Explorer Finalist Award.


Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Prof. Wang Shu chaired the jury panel, which comprised prominent professionals and academics in architecture, including Prof. Ge Ming, Vice Dean of the Southeast University School of Architecture, as well as renowned Dutch photographer Mr. Ivan Baan.


Over the past eight years, the research and design team led by Prof. Zhu has developed over 60 projects supported by innovative lightweight building systems with scientific achievements, including charity schools, children’s playrooms and nature reserve workstations. With a comprehensive perspective and unique approach to architecture, these works have served different groups of people in need, connecting people with nature and communities through meaningful technologies and precise design schemes.
