Pedram Ghelichi is a designer and researcher focusing on uncertainties and contingencies in architectural processes. This is the central topic of his doctoral dissertation, titled “Becoming Constructed: Beyond the Duality of Exactitude and Error”. In the thesis, he sought an alternative understanding of uncertainties, not as problems to solve but as opportunities to explore. Ever since, he has published a book chapter, several journal papers and conference proceedings on this topic.
As a designer, he has also been following the same path. He first started architectural practice in Iran, from 2013-16, learning from the uncertainties and contingencies of the country. Upon moving to Hong Kong in 2016, he has been collaborating with the Unitinno Studio. So far, he has built a few small-scale projects in rural China, exploring and practising the theme of his doctoral dissertation.
He is currently a lecturer at the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
