A group of our BSSc Year 2 students (Chung Hiu Nam, Mak Kwan Yeung, Wang Yilan) have participated at the 9th Southwest Jiaotong University “Tianfu Construction Festival” and won the Second Prize. With the theme “Tianfu Station”, the competition tasked contestants to design a station which connects the city with the Chengdu Summer Universiade.

Led by Dr Han Man and Dr. Pedram Ghelichi, our students built a pavilion that looked heavy but weighted only 120 catties. Without using a nail or a drop of glue, it can be dismantled within an hour. The design took inspiration of the traditional log construction system.

The competition was organised by the Southwest Jiaotong University, with ten universities from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland China participating in it.
