How can a focus on “landscapes” provide new insights into time and temporality within the design process? How may such a perspective shift our comprehension of the relationship between the built and natural environments and approaches to materiality and ecology?

The three talks in this seminar will discuss recent research on landscape design that challenges conventional notions of site, context, and scale in architecture. By examining how different projects “assemble” the relations between human and non-human entities and socio-material interactions across time, the seminar aims to foster dialogues on the necessity of a broader, systemic approach to design that also attends to the specificity of local contexts and contested realities. It is argued that these considerations are vital for the development of sustainable and habitable environments in the 21st century.
