Urbanstudies

Introduction

The Urban Studies Programme is a 4-year undergraduate multidisciplinary programme jointly organised by the School of Architecture and Department of Geography and Resource Management. For detailed information, please refer to the Programme Booklet.


Who should study Urban Studies?

  • Those who are interested in cities and urban development;
  • Those who would like to understand and investigate the inter-connectedness of urban phenomena;
  • Those who want to be urban literate;
  • Those who want to learn more about urban design and planning; and
  • Those who want to improve the urban environment and governance.

JUPAS

Application for admission to this programme should be submitted via the JUPAS Online Application System.


An interview with the applicants putting this programme as their Band A choice may be conducted (on a selective basis), normally before the announcement of the HKDSE results. Bonus marks will be given to the interviewees with good performance.

Non-JUPAS

Applicants who possess a qualification that qualifies them for university admissions in the country/region where such qualification is obtained may apply for admissions to the programme. Applicants shall also have attained an acceptable level of language proficiency.

Change of Major

General Requirements (should satisfy at least one of the following minimum conditions):

  • The student should have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in the current academic year;
  • The admissions WGPA score (e.g. HKDSE) of the student should be better than the student at the lowest decile who had been successfully admitted to our Programme in the same year that s/he was first admitted to the University;
  • The students who have taken course(s) at least 6 units with an average grade of not less than B- that would count towards the major requirements of the programme.


Applicants who have met the above requirements will be invited to an interview.
