What is the role of craft in architecture? How might thinking about craft offer new insights into design practice in shaping the material world and social relations in the 21st century?

In an era where craft faces challenges from a fast-paced economy, it is also experiencing a revitalisation. From blending traditional techniques of making with digital experiments, to growing market demands for the authentic and the artisanal, to the promotion of craft-making for community empowerment, craft is redefining its place in contemporary society.

The three short talks in this seminar will explore craft’s various attributes and raise new questions about its evolving role in design practice, as well as its connections to tradition, innovation, and sustainability.

The seminar will be conducted in English and open to the public. No prior reservation is required.
